Understanding Lymphoma: Symptoms, Types, and Treatment

Lymphoma is a kind of cancer that affects the body’s germ-fighting network, the lymphatic system. Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Burkitt lymphoma, Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and mantle cell lymphoma are among the various forms of lymphoma.

Symptoms of lymphoma

A more successful course of treatment may result from early detection of lymphoma signs. Common symptoms include:
• Swollen lymph nodes
• Fever
• Night sweats
• Weight loss
• Fatigue

Types of Lymphoma

1. Reed-Sternberg cells are the distinguishing feature of Hodgkin’s lymphoma. It is commonly diagnosed in early adulthood or after the age of 55.
2. NonHodgkin’s Lymphoma: This group of blood malignancies includes all types of lymphoma excluding Hodgkin’s lymphomas.
3. Burkitt Lymphoma: A rapidly growing non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma that typically begins in the abdomen.
4. Mantle Cell Lymphoma is an uncommon non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma caused by cells from the lymph node’s “mantle zone”.
