What he/she says
Hello everyone, I am Saritha 23 year old ,married. I was affected with cancer (Classical Hodgkins Lymphoma), and I want to share my experience with this life threatening disorder. My problem started (Feb 2016) with Fever , neck side swelling . For this reason we went to St John’s Hospital, Bangalore . They did blood tests followed by, lymph node biopsy, by these reports its confirmed as cancer. Doctors there told to give chemotherapy and they told lot of side effects while taking chemo. We all were very shocked, then somebody told us to take Ayurvedic medicine as there are minimal side effects . From Feb to Oct 2016 I took Ayurvedic medicine but there was no proper response . After some days I started to feel very week and suddenly fall down . There were repeated spikes of fever ,at that time I was unconscious . Iin that situation my husband friend told us to admit in HCG Hospital Bangalore. There we met Doctor SK Gupta (Hematologist&, BMT Consultant). At that time he gave hope to all my family members . Slowly I recovered in ICU Then they shifted to Ward. During my ward stay Dr SK Gupta explained about my problem to my husband and family members, in a simple language. He explained regarding disease, treatment facility, duration of the treatment i.e. Chemotherapy. Before only he explained side effects of chemotherapy (hair loss, constipation, indigestion etc)so I am worried of these side effects but Doctor told these side effects are temporary ,anyway at that time I am very upset because of hair loss,, ,as we know its long term treatment . He also told us regarding minimal side effects of chemo as he will take care major of side effects by giving certain medications and proper close follow-up finally we decided to take chemotherapy, at the time of first chemo I experience some nausea sensation otherwise smoothly I finished. Truly speaking, before chemo I thought its very difficult to take it, there will be pain and burning while taking this. But after first chemo my fear is reduced around 50%. In totally I have received 6 cycles of chemo, today (24/05/17) is my last chemo ,(From Nov 2016 to May 2017), in Hyderabad under doctor SK Gupta. As per my own experience we should not take tension for any side effects, we should follow good dietary measures( In fact I gained around 6-7kg during chemotherapy), physical activity, peace mind, regularly medicine intake. Always we should be in confident; I am a live example for this treatment.
If I go back and see myself, I have wasted almost 8-9months in taking various treatments. If I would have been counseled properly about side effects of chemo probably I should have not admitted in ICU with fits. I know that though I have completed chemo today but there are chances of recurrence especially in initial 2yrs from now, but I am much better than before starting chemotherapy. By looking the quality care provided by Dr SK Gupta and his dedicated team, I recommend to show him at least once for any hematological disorders starting from child to elder age. Though he is an expert in blood- bone marrow transplant, but as this treatment is not required in my disease at this moment so he didn’t recommended it.
Thank you and best wishes to all…….
