My Mother got fever on and off since 2 months (April 2018) & decreased intake and and we visited lot of Doctors, but during those consultations with Doctors given medicines and it did not get cured. After observing for few more days we have admitted her in Mahavira General Hospital in Vikarabad, they said the blood is very low and injected 4 bottles of blood for a month. Later she was good for few weeks and again got fever and we visited some local doctors and underwent some blood tests which has been suggested, the blood is very low by looking at the reports. Then doctor suggested us to visit a better hospital with facilities. Then we admitted her at ESI hospital, there ESI Dr has referred us to to Indo-American hospital at Begum pet on 08/05/2018. She was immediately taken to Emergency room and put 2 packets of blood to her couple of times. They conducted lot of tests like Malaria, Typhoid, etc then they suggested her to undergo bone marrow test.
Then we had some delay to get a approval letter from ESI to other hospital where Bone Marrow test will undergo, Then we got a approval from ESI to Citizens Hospital. There they had kept in Emergency and conducted some more tests. There Dr.S k Gupta sir inspected patient B. Anasuja (My mother) and sent her to ICU because other condition was not good. She was having weakness, fever. In ICU along with blood tests bone marrow procedure was also conducted. Before bone marrow report came , Dr Gupta sir told that your mother is suffering from blood cancer. To know which type of blood cancer we will get further report in another 20-24hrs, based on that we will decide further. He said, most of time we don’t need bone marrow examination to find out whether somebody is suffering from blood cancer or not.
Next day sir told that my mother is suffering from AML (one type of blood cancer), Good risk (NPM1+ve, FLT 3 negative) which need urgent treatment and requires around 3-4 weeks of continuous admission. During this time she will receive chemotherapy in form of injections along with supportive care for infection, bleeding. Dr. Gupta sir had suggested us to find blood donors for granulocytes, SDP and keep them screened. We found blood donors in next 4 days and who had undergone blood tests for eligibility to donate. In parallel Chemotherapy was started (12.05.2018) with in 2-4 days of her admission and after first chemotherapy blood & platelets were injected to my mother. We have not seen any major problem in her after her chemotherapy. At end of 1 month(20.06.2018) again bone marrow test was performed to know her cancer status which revealed that her cancer is in control. We were very happy.
Dr Gupta sir advised for 3 more cycles of once a month chemotherapy to minimize chances of recurrence which were also completed on …..? without major issues except once she developed redness of eyes which also recovered .
We thank you all the doctors who has been a part of the treatment and especially Dr Gupta sir,we are very much thankful to Dr Gupta sir in particular, hoping to see my mother to be normal soon. What we have learned is that –we should not have fear about cancer word , its treatable , and curable as well. I can’t forget the support given by my friends who came forward in donating their Granulocytes, SDPs. If we fight as a team we can conquer cancer as well.
